Episode 55: InnoVactiv

Hi, I'm Shane from Path Forward Formulator and welcome back to 3Minut Thursdays, where we demonstrate the capabilities of our app by building a formula in 3 minutes or less. If you haven't already had a demo of our product, just click the link in the post above. Schedule your demo today and we'll show you what it's all about. In today's 3Minut Thursday, we're going to work on a liquid-filled capsule featuring two ingredients from our friends at Inovactive. We're also going to take this opportunity to show you the control you have over how ingredients are displayed on your label.

Let's go ahead and log in. The first ingredient we're working with is Iodide from Inovactive. This is iodine, so it's going to pull the B2 section name from here, and I’ve set it up as a brown seaweed extract. You have control over whether it shows up in the B3 section of the label. The “source of nutrients” label is pulled from this setting. If it's not selected, the label will just say “iodine.”

Let's go ahead and choose Iodide and input 150 micrograms of iodine, which is 100% of the daily value. If we look at the fact sheet right now, it simply says “iodine.” Next, we’ll add our second ingredient, PAL-X, also from Inovactive. We’ll use 1,000 mg and place it in the capsule.

Now if we look at the fact sheet, both ingredients are formatted accordingly, but we can adjust what displays next to “iodine.” Let’s save this version as a draft, then pull up the ingredient record. Scroll down and select “Show source of nutrients,” then hit save. We return to our draft, let it calculate, and check the label. It now displays the scientific name next to iodine.

We can take it one step further. Go back to the ingredient and select “Show B3.” Bring the draft back up, let it calculate, and now the label also displays the trademarked information in the B3 section. Of course, you can set it however you like — I’m just showing examples of the control you have over labeling.

Let’s go ahead and save the formula, view the record, and export. You can export the fact sheet as a fully editable PDF. You also have the option to export in Excel, and of course, export the full specification sheet. If we scroll down in the spec sheet, you'll see the contact details for where to get PAL-X and Iodide.

And that’s a liquid-filled supplement — built in 3 minutes or less — and a quick demo of how to customize what appears on the label. Thank you, and we look forward to seeing you next time on 3Minut Thursdays.
