Episode 44: Balchem MSM
Hi, I'm Jade and we're at Path Forward Formulator. I thought it would be fun to do a 3-Minute Thursday and show you how easy it is to build new products with the app in 3 minutes or less. Please click the link in the post above to schedule your demo. And today on 3-Minute Thursday, I want to talk about how our bodies require sulfur to maintain healthy joints and skin. So today, we're going to make a tablet that will cover both with just one ingredient, which is OptiMSM — methylsulfonylmethane.
Let's jump right into building the formula. We'll start by choosing our dosage form. First, we'll choose formulation type: a single-layer tablet. Then, two tablets per serving with 30 servings per container. Now, we'll choose a standard cap, clear coating, and we'll use the excipient generator and set it to Clean Label by RIBUS with a specialty base.
Now it's time to add our ingredients to build the formula. Since we have the system all ready to go, we'll start with OptiMSM at 1500 mg. If we wanted to make a version with a support blend for a skin-focused formula, we could add the following: aloe vera at 100 mg, green tea at 75 mg, sage at 50 mg, and dandelion at 25 mg. Or, if we wanted to make a version with a support blend for a joint-focused formula, we could add: turmeric at 100 mg, white willow at 75 mg, ginger at 50 mg, and cat’s claw at 25 mg.
Now, looking at the facts box, you’ll see everything is formatted correctly and looks great. Let’s save and export the specification sheet. And if we scroll down to the supplier section, you’ll see where to get OptiMSM and the contact details for our friends at Balchem. That’s it. Simple, clear, and automated. See you next time on 3-Minute Thursday.
