Episode 47: PSGold

Hi, I’m Shane from Path Forward Formulator, and welcome to 3Minute Thursday, where we demonstrate the speed and efficiency of our platform while formulating with our partners' ingredients. If you haven’t already had a demo of our platform, just click the link in the post above and we’ll show you what it’s all about.

Hey everybody, on this week’s 3Minute Thursday, we’re going to be working with PS Gold from our friends at Golden Key Ingredients. As you can see on the screen, we’ve already pre-populated our dataset with PS Gold from Golden Key Ingredients. So, let’s go ahead and jump in and start building a formula.

We’re going to start with a tablet, bi-layered—two tablets per serving. We’re going to use our external contract manufacturing cost estimate and set an external margin at 30%. We’re also going to use our optional excipient generator, selecting standard excipients for specialty ingredients. We’ll start with a 200 mg dose and put that in Layer 1.

Now let’s build a support base. We’ll do a powdered omega-3 from algae—let’s go 250 mg and put that in Layer 2. We’ll pull in some theanine, 100 mg in Layer 1. We’ll use some ginkgo 4:1 extract at 100 mg and put that in Layer 2. Then we’ll top it off with some ashwagandha root with 1.5% withanolides.

Let’s go ahead and create a support blend and put everything in there except for the PS Gold. If we look at our fact sheet, it’s all formatted accordingly—exactly the way we want it.

One feature we have that a lot of the formulators using our platform find very helpful is the Metrics tab. As you can see from this screen, looking at the formula we just built, it’ll pull in all of the costs it’s using to calculate the per-bottle cost. It’ll also show you your ingredient weight, your excipient coating weight calculation, and you can pull in cost percentages.

Now we can go down to the ingredient costs and see where they’re coming from. If you have macros showing up in your formula, you can also see which ingredients contribute to the macronutrient content.

There are multiple export functions in Path Forward Formulator. We can export the formula as an Excel file, the supplement facts as a PDF or Excel, and of course the product-level spec sheet. If we export that and scroll down to the supplier section, you will see the contact details for Golden Key Ingredients—where to get PS Gold (phosphatidylserine).

And that’s it. Fast, simple, efficient—Path Forward Formulator. Thank you, and we look forward to seeing you next time on 3Minute Thursday.
