Episode 29: Mass Market Multivitamin

[00:00-00:31]

Hi, I'm Shane from Path Forward Formulator. Welcome to our 3minute Thursday series where we demonstrate the features of our app by building a formula in 3 minutes or less. If you have not already had a demo of our award-winning platform, please click the link in the post above and schedule your short demo today. Thank you. In this week's 3 Minute Thursday, we've been asked by a user to replicate a multivitamin found in the mass market. As you can see, it's loaded with ingredients. So I'm going to go ahead and move this off to the side and start building the formula.

[00:31-00:46]

We see it's a tablet. Assume it's single layer. We see it's one tablet per serving, 30 servings per container with a standard cap. Coatings are optional, but we think this has a clear coating based on the ingredient deck. It's a single color and they're using standard tablet excipients.

[00:46-01:19]

At this point, all we have to do is start following the supplement facts and add each of the ingredients. Get beta carotene at a thousand fifty micrograms. Vitamin C at a hundred and twenty micrograms. You'll notice I'm adding ingredients. You'll see a lot of DCs. Those are all for directly compressible, meaning they are optimized for use in tablets. 25 micrograms of D3. 27 milligrams of vitamin E. 60 micrograms of K-one. 1.5 milligrams of B-one. 1.7 milligrams of riboflavin.

[01:19-01:57]

We've got niacin at 20 milligrams. Folate at five hundred micrograms. B12 at a hundred micrograms. Biotin at 30 micrograms. Panathenic acid at ten milligrams. They're using two hundred and ten milligrams of calcium from calcarbonate. We see they're using magnesium oxide at 75 milligrams. They're using 15 milligrams of zinc oxide. They have 21 micrograms of selenium, 0.5 milligrams of copper, 4 milligrams of manganese, 60 micrograms of chromium picolinate, 50 micrograms of molybdenum, 80 milligrams of potassium.

[01:57-02:25]

They're only using three hundred micrograms of lutein, but we're going to opt for ten milligrams. They're only using six hundred micrograms of lycopene, but we're going to opt for 2 milligrams. If we take a look at our fact sheet, we see we're spot on. All of the DVs are calculated. We've used a few different mineral salts available from some of our partners. And of course, we put in a higher amount of lycopene and lutein compared to them.

[02:25-02:45]

And that is our first user-requested formula recreation with Path Forward Formulator in 3 minutes or less. Thank you, and we look forward to seeing you next time in 3 Minute Thursday.
