Episode 24: Balchem

[00:00-00:22]

Hi, I'm Shane from Path Forward Formulator and welcome back to 3 Minute Thursdays where we demonstrate the capabilities of our app by building a formula in 3 minutes or less. If you haven't already had a demo of our product, just click the link in the post above, schedule your demo today and we'll show you what it's all about. In this week's 3 Minute Thursday, We're going to build a bone health formula with just 2 ingredients from our friends at Balchem.

[00:23-00:54]

We're also going to show you some cool new features that are within Path Forward Formulator. Let's go ahead and log in and let's pull up the first ingredient. This is going to be Calci-K from Balchem. Now you'll notice I put Calcium Potassium Phosphate as the scientific botanical name and add the trademark name under the label name. and we can control which and or both populate to the supplement facts. So in this case, we're gonna leave them blank and we're gonna see what happens.

[00:54-01:10]

Another feature is the defining of amount of a hundred. If we set the potency to a hundred percent, turn on defining amount of a hundred, it opens up the nutrients tab and this is where we can put the values per hundred grams.

[01:10-01:31]

Let's go ahead and build the formula. We'll go dosage form. We're going to make this a tablet, single layer, one per serving, 30 per container with a standard cap. Next we go choose ingredients. We'll add the CalCK at a thousand milligrams, and then we'll also add K2 Vital at a hundred and eighty micrograms.

[01:31-01:48]

Now if we look at the fact sheet, there's nothing to tell you what is the source of the calcium, phosphorus, or potassium, and the Vital K2 has populated as it should to the B3 section, because remember, vitamin K2 does not have an official DV.

[01:48-02:21]

And then we're gonna go into the CalCK material, And we're going to turn on show source of nutrients and look at the label. It's populated the Cal potassium phosphorous citrate to the B 2 section of the label. So, you know, the source of each of the materials. So if we go back into the ingredient and now we click show B 3, it's going to bring the label name here to the B 3 section. So now it's added the Cal CK information to the B 3 section, which you can format however you want.

[02:21-02:44]

Another cool feature that we want to talk about is the fact that we can add carriers and subcomponents per ingredients as well. So this particular vitamin K2 is one percent on MCT oil. So all you have to do at the top when you're adding the ingredient is go to carriers, add your carrier and the percentage. In this case, MCT oil, 99 percent.

[02:44-03:20]

If we go and look at that formula we built, and we look at the fact sheet, you'll see it has calculated the total amount of MCT oil and put it in descending order with the tablet excipients. If we save this formula, view the record, and export the specification sheet, If we scroll down to the supplier section, the contact details for both K-II Vital and CalCK will be there, and you can get those from Balchem. And that is a 2ingredient bone health formula showing you some of the labeling features and the carrier feature of the app in 3 minutes or less.

[03:21-03:24]

Thank you, and we look forward to seeing you next time on 3 Minute Thursdays.
