Episode 17: Liboost Tablet in Capsule

hi, i'm rebecca from path forward formulator. welcome back to our 3 minute thursdays where we demonstrate features of our app while building a formula in 3 minutes or less. please click the demo button in the post above to schedule your demo and learn more about path forward formulator. in today's edition of 3 minute thursday we will focus on formulating a tablet and capsule featuring lee boost from our friends at farmactive.

let's start by choosing formula. add new by dosage. we'll choose capsule as our product type. hard shell and liquid filled tablet. set serving size to 2 capsules with 45 servings per container. a child resistant cap. we'll go with an hpmc capsule polymer and set the tablet to a single layer with a clear coating and single color.

let's use standard excipients for the tablet with an herbal profile. next we choose our ingredients. we need an oil in the outer capsule and can choose an omega3 oil from algae at two hundred and 75 milligrams. We put that in the capsule and then can start on our tablet.

first we'll choose the components for our support blend. We want 15 milligrams of vicarin, so we will set the label claim to 15 milligrams and let the system do the potency calculation. Alternatively we can use a hundred and fifty and set the potency to a hundred percent to get the same result. Next we'll add 50 milligrams of maca and 50 milligrams of nettle.

Finally, we will add in our hero ingredient, Leboost from Farm Active, and we see that the recommended dose is three hundred milligrams. We can view the supplement facts and ensure everything looks good. We might want to consider putting the herbal component into a blend. To do that, we choose add blend, decide on our name and check which ingredients will go into the blend. Let's take a quick look at the supplement facts and verify everything looks good.

Then we can save and view the formula. Notice the metrics tab in the middle. Here you can see where all your costs are coming from and the percent contribution of each cost item. This is helpful when you have a target to hit and you are looking for where you might be able to shave a bit of cost off.

Finally, we will export the spec sheet where we can view the full formula, including potency overage and manufacturing variance adjustments. The excipients are system generated for the tablet and if we scroll down to the ingredient supplier section, you will find the contact details for Farm Active Biotech, whom you can contact for the LeBoost ingredient. You can even use this sheet to send to your contract manufacturer of choice for quoting the formula.
