Magnesium Gummy Formulation with Innophos

  • Hi, I'm Shane from Path Forward Formulator, and welcome back to 3Minute Thursdays, where we demonstrate the capabilities of our app by building a formula in 3 minutes or less. If you haven't already had a demo of our product, just click the link in the post above, schedule your demo today, and we'll show you what it's all about. In this week's 3Minute Thursday, featuring ingredients from our friends at Gencor. With the power of Path Forward Formulator, we will create the initial formula and then show you how to convert into different dosage forms.

This feature is ideal when you are trying to decide what the best delivery of your new product would be. And we're gonna start with the capsule version, powder-filled. Let's do 2 capsules per serving, 30 servings per container, with a standard cap and HPMC polymer

We're going to skip the optional flavor and sweetener systems for now and choose rice flour as our coating. Let's also skip the sanding since we went with a natural sugar-free base and we don't want to add any additional sugar. Now, we are ready to add magnesium. Let's search specifically for magnesium citrate as Kilomax from Innophos, as their material has been shown to perform amazing in a pectin gummy and at a higher than anticipated load. For this demonstration, we are going to go for a lower dose of 50 milligrams of magnesium and let the app do the potency calculations for us.

The first estimates of cost appear on the right, as does the bottle size estimate, and we can also view our draft supplement facts box now. As you can see, our supplement facts box has started formatting, including the 12 percent daily value of magnesium that we added, and the base components for the gummy that have populated into the other ingredient section. We can go over the active capacity load to see what the supplement facts will look like at different levels of milligrams, but we can't save unless we are within active load capacity.

Let's go ahead and save our magnesium gummy. And then view the formula and let's export the specification sheet. Here, we will find the formula with potency and overage calculation, and our overage section also includes a small bit of manufacturing variance. Plus, all components of the syrup base in their respective quantities will populate here. The cost of the syrup base components is already built into the system, which is why on the spec sheet you do not see a cost associated with each syrup component.

Right now, we are looking for the supplier section. So we know exactly who to contact for a source of magnesium that will work in a pectin gummy and quite possibly exceed your active load aspiration. As you can see, the contact details for Innophos populate directly to the draft specs sheet. And that is a formula in 3 minutes or less using Path Forward Formulator.

Also, remember to use Innophos' Kilomax Magnesium Citrate for your pectin-based gummy needs. We look forward to seeing you in our next 3-minute Thursday. If you are not already using our app-based system, please visit pathforwardformulator.com and find out more to schedule your demo.

EPISODE 2

Plant-Based Women's Multivitamin Capsule

  • Hi, I'm Shane from Path Forward Formulator. Welcome to our 3 minute Thursday series where we demonstrate the features of our app while building a formula in 3 minutes or less. Please click the demo button in the post to schedule your demo and learn more about Path Forward Formulator. Today, we are creating a plant-based, multivitamin capsule for women. So let's start by choosing a capsule, hard shell, and we'll go powder filled.

Let's go with one capsule per serving, 30 per container, and use a child resistant cap. We're going to use an HPMC polymer, and we'll let the system suggest the starting point for our clean label excipients in an herbal-based formula.

For the ingredients, our friends at Organetics have an amazing multivitamin blend that is already in our system and ready to be used. Let's go ahead and choose that. Recommended dose is five hundred milligrams. We'll go with that. Put it in a capsule and the system starts calculating everything on the right. We can also take a quick glance at the sub facts, see what is coming from the ingredients, and we notice iron and zinc are a little lower than we want. So we're going to go ahead and bump those up a bit. So we're going to start by using arginine curry leaves extract.

We need about 9 milligrams of iron from this source. Let it adjust for potency. And now for the zinc, let's choose some origin zinc. We need about 8 additional milligrams coming from this one. And we'll also let the system adjust for potency. Now it flags us that it won't fit in one capsule. Not a problem. We go back to the previous screen. We change it to 2 capsules per serving. Leave it at 30 per container. Go back to ingredients and you'll see everything recalculates and we're good to go.

Let's go ahead and save this formula. That way we can get to the screen to see what we can export. Once we save it, we view the record. And then up top, we can find our export functions, including the subfacts, if we need to take another look at that. But what we're after right now is the specification sheet, because we want to open that up, where we've got information on the formula, including potency and overage.

But what we're really after now is the supplier. Let's jump down to that section and verify that Indeed Organetics Contact details have all populated, so we know who to go to to get these materials. And that is a plant-based multivitamin for women in 3 minutes or less.

We look forward to seeing you in our next 3 Minute Thursday. If you are not already using our app-based system, please visit pathforwardformulator.com to find out more and schedule your demo today.
